The best is yet to come

John Maxwell defines success as knowing your purpose in life, growing to your maximum potential and sowing seeds that benefits others. I buy that and can live with that definition of success, as opposed to the definition of successes that focuses exclusively on the material accumulation of wealth. Let’s just reflect on the 3 points

Purpose – I believe that each person must discover his/her purpose in life which in essence boils down to the question, why you were born. Do you know what purpose does? Purpose makes you get up in the morning. Purpose defines what you read; when you sleep and yes what you eat.

I strongly belief that purpose is the one thing that becomes you compass, the one thing that pulls and points your to the right direction. Once you discover your purpose you begin to live and not merely exist.

Growing to your maximum potential – What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us, Isn’t that true, you must have a growth attitude. Did you know that the day a tree stops growing is the day he dies. You and I must never think that we have arrived, we know it all .A commitment to personal growth means that the only person that you compete against is yourself, and the rest they complete you. You see you are running your race only, the last thing you want to do is to run somebody else’s race. I recently had the joy of completing a book, this is something that I wanted to do for a long time and the joy of actually finishing it was amazing, in fact I started in 2003 after writing and rewriting. It was one of by biggest stretches and how I have grown as a person in the process. Friends we have to keep stretching to the new, towards the things that are bigger than us.

Sowing seeds that benefit others – Judge each day not by the harvest but by the seeds that you plant. I think that there is alot to learn from farmers you see they plant, wet and wait. The wet and wait principle is the very lifeblood of our life. We live in a society of instant gratification; a microwave mentality is what I call it. Did you know that you can get a Phd in two weeks time on the internet? Whether you are in leadership or aspiring to leadership, continue to give of yourself, your experience, knowledge and love. You see, when we give of ourself then we truly give.

Friends, I am saying that if we live our lives as victors instead of victims, then there is no way that we cannot succeed. I say go ahead start that new business, write that song and have an attitude and a confidence that in no uncertain terms says to the world, that the best is yet to come.
